Toxic Parents
“Toxic Parents” is a Lithuanian amateur theatre play based on the book by Susan Forward, a psychologist, lecturer, and leader of group therapy sessions and trainings. Toxic Parents is a drama that takes you on a journey through the lives of adult children raised by toxic parents. These are real, unfiltered stories filled with trust and disappointment, shame and guilt, psychological and physical abuse.
The mixture of these emotions and childhood experiences inevitably returns even after a person has grown up. Unconsciously learned patterns of communication are carried into the families and relationships they create themselves.
What can help break free from the harm caused by those who were supposed to protect and defend their children unconditionally? What can we do to avoid causing harm in our own children’s lives?
